GUEST POST:Fashion, Beauty and Makeup Can Improve a Woman's Life

By: Jackie Clark

Women know when they feel the most confident and the most empowered. Most of the time, it is directly related to something she was wearing or how good she felt she looked at that time. In fact, clothes, fashion and makeup can play such a vital role in the lives of women that they can actually make her feel fabulous in virtually any situation.

A woman who feels nervous about a presentation at work will most likely feel more confident when she is looking her best. By donning a power suit and perfecting her hair and makeup, she can walk into that conference room and feel powerful and confident enough to rock her presentation. It is very similar to the way a woman feels on her wedding day. Mentally she knows that she is the most beautiful woman in the room because she has her dream dress on, her hair perfected and flawless makeup. Every woman on a smaller scale can have this same feeling everyday if they just take the time to extenuate all the wonderful attributes they already have through fashion and makeup.

However when a woman is having perhaps not having a great day regardless of what the circumstance may enduring, by going shopping, getting her hair done or going to the salon for a manicure and pedicure can turn her attitude around. Even a new tube of lip-gloss can drastically improve a woman’s mood because once she applies that shimmery look; a part of her will feel more fabulous about herself.

Just like beauty, fashion and makeup can make a woman’s mood skyrocket in any given moment, a cancer diagnosis can make it sink faster than anything else. Hearing a doctor inform her that she has been diagnosed with a rare form of mesothelioma cancer can make a woman feel worse than anything that has ever happened in her life. This is perfectly normal: however, a woman should deal with her negative emotions and come to term with her diagnosis because her prognosis depends greatly on her quality of life. The more positive outlook a woman has throughout her disease, the better the chance she has of overcoming the cancer.

Perhaps the easiest way a woman can improve her quality of life is to lift her confidence up by making her feel more positive and powerful about herself from head to toe. A manicure and a pedicure will go a long way, but they will go even farther when paired with a great dress or perfect jeans to show off your legs, a gorgeous pair of designer shoes to make you look more feminine or amazing accessories to highlight your features.

Mineral makeup
is also a great tool to utilize because it not only is good for the environment; it is also good for a woman’s skin. The perfect outfit paired with the right accessories and a touch of makeup to accentuate a woman’s best features, such as big, beautiful eyes or high cheekbones can make a woman feel beautiful, despite her cancer diagnosis. When she looks in the mirror and sees her gorgeous reflection staring back out at her, she is going to feel her confidence level rise and her quality of life with automatically improve.

There is no better way to deal with any type of cancer treatment than with a positive outlook that can only be helped by feeling gorgeous and beautiful. Don’t let any of life’s adversities take away from the gorgeous woman you are. Makeup and fashion can help a woman feel empowered and sexy in a matter of minutes, so take the time and have fun with cosmetics and live a beautiful life inside and out!

Fashion or Style??? What is your choice?

Hello All!
I was watching RHOA (Real Housewives of Atlanta) the other day and the new cast member Marlow always talks about her designer clothes. My question is would you prefer style? Or would you prefer to be fashionable. I want to hear from you because I know that I do not always have $300.00 to dish out on a tracey reese dress or thousands of dollars to spend on Christian Louboutins. However, I can honestly say that I do have a personal style. Fashion sense isn't something you can describe, you just know that you like certain designers. I know that I have a very modest, sometimes glam, sometime prep style. Its me! I can go to the thrift store an buy $50.00 worth of clothes which compliment my style.
What do you prefer? Style or Fashion?

MEET MISS D'SHONDRA RIDEOUT

HELLO ALL!

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF SPEAKING WITH D'SHONDRA RIDEOUT! A VERY TALENTED SONGSTRESS AND FELLOW MICHIGANDER THAT I FIRST NOTICED ON KIRK FRANKLIN'S "JESUS" OFF OF HIS CD THE FIGHT OF MY LIFE. HERE IS THE SONG BELOW:

SHE IS A VERY DRIVEN YOUNG LADY THAT IS CHASING AFTER HER DREAMS! I KNEW THAT MANY YOUNG LADIES (CHRISTIAN OR NOT) WOULD BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY WITH HER! I INTERVIEWED HER THIS PAST WEEK. EVEN WITH HER SCHEDULE SHE WAS NICE ENOUGH TO INTERVIEW WITH ME AND I THANK HER! I JUST WANTED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HER STYLE BECAUSE SHE ALWAYS LOOKS SO DARN CUTE AND I KNEW MANY OTHERS WOULD LOVE TO KNOW AS WELL!
YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH HER ON HER TWITTER      HERE.

SO CHECK OUT D'SHONDRA!

1) I have seen you in person a couple of times, and you always look so nice! How would you explain your personal style?

-well thanks!! :-) I'm very old school.. I lived with my grandparents for a while so a bit of grandmoms style became my style. On an average day I like to wear jeans and a blazer with a very cute shoe(I LOVE SHOES!!!) overall my style would be comfortable/casual chic.
2) Being a fellow church girl, how do you express your style at church? What are some of your favorite things to wear?

-I love women's suits! I own so many lol I will usually wear a suit with sky high heels or a nice dress.

3) What are some of your favorite trends for the Fall/Winter?

- Fall is definitely my favorite season. I'm loving the faux furs and riding boots. I just like being able to actually 'dress'!

4) What are some of your favorite beauty products?

- M.A.C. Anything lol Since I travel so much and I have to wear makeup often a good face wash is VITAL!! My skin is weird(very oily and acne prone), so I use Neutrogena oil free acne stress control. The whole line works wonders for me.

5) What would you say to someone who is reaching for their dreams like you are reaching for yours?

- Just stay focused on God, stay in your Bible, and don't ever conform to this world. It WILL get hard to stay on track sometimes and it's easy to get discouraged but God is always there, and trust me... He has your back! Don't give up!!

6) Would you like to add anything else?

;-) not unless you want to ask more!
I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU AGAIN TO D'SHONDRA AND I PRAY THAT SHE CONTINUES TO REACH FOR HER DREAMS! CHECK HER OUT AT http://www.twitter.com/DSHONDRA

MUCH LOVE AND GOD BLESS!

Style Craze!!!!! GLITTER SHOES!

Hello Dolls!

Glitter and Sequin is not just for cute little kids and dancers anymore! Glitter is everywhere! I must admit, when I trend begins it spreads! And what I have been seeing a lot of are glitter shoes! I first saw these shoes at Baker. I wanted them so bad but I had to buy another pair of shoes for an event and I had to kiss those shoes goodbye! (womp womp!) Then I seen them at the Steve Madden store and almost passed out! They were a little bit cheaper but I could not afford them! (Darn!). So then I was walking in my local mall and saw them at one of my favorite stores Charolette Russe, and I was done! lol. I know I know, it did not need such a drawn out story but I had to tell you my love for these glitter shoes! When I started to see celebs wearing them then I knew that it was a trend! These shoes are a must have going into the fall to add with those staple pieces! And I most definately have to get a pair!

WOMEN WHO WEAR BLACK! (HOW TO WEAR BLACK)

"Women who wear black lead colorful lives!"
-Neiman Marcus 2008

Hello All!
So many women think that wearing black is meant to depict a certain attitude or feeling. But black is so much more than wearing a big black hat with black shoes, black shades, and a black dress to a funeral. In 2008 Neiman Marcus had an advertisement which stated that "women who wear black lead colorful lives". However, how do you wear black? Black is known to many to slim problem areas on the body, however, what do you pair black with? Can everyone wear a all black? That is the question!
Black is not a color for every woman to wear near the face. For women with pale skin, it is said to look very unforgiving. Black is a color that could be paired with warm and cool colors!  Just because you have pale skin does not mean you can not wear black.  Wearing a brighter color if worn on top creates a more befitting look.

These two looks that I saw on www.elle.com from the Spring 2012 Cyntia Rowley show are great examples. These are two very beautiful models with pale skin. The dresses that they are wearing )which are lovely by the way) add a bit of contrast with the black which creates a beautiful look! Also because they are pale the dress has a lower neckline so that it would be perfect for any woman that wants to wear this dress.

The little Black Dress
The little black dress which is a fashion staple can be worn so many ways!
1) With colorful shoes to add excitement to the ensemble!
2)Mixing it with white
3) Add interesting jewelry
4) Add a blazer

Black is one of my favorite things to wear! I think I wear black almost every day and some way or another. All you have to do is know how to wear this color and you too will be able to lead a colorful life!

Nab some dollar store deals:Beauty on a budget

Hello All!
I know that many many fashionistas, make up addict, etc. can not always shop at high priced department stores for their clothes and make up. That is where thrifting comes in handy with the clothes, but what about beauty products, such as make up or shampoo. THE DOLLAR STORE! Here where I live we have a wonderful dollar store that carries awesome beauty products. I purchased Maybelline there! (When some retailers need to get rid of extra beauty products, they sell it to discount shops). But you do not just want to buy any old thing from the dollar store because the stock can be old, but follow these guidelines, and grab some awesome deals!

1. Only buy products with a seal- You do not want to buy anything if it is not sealed. It may have been opened, tested, and that could cause bacteria.
2  Stock up!!-. Always purchase nail files, clippers, scrunchies, mirrors, sharpeners, etc you can have a limitless supply with it only being a dollar!
3.  Try elf- I went to my dollar store and saw elf cosmetics! they have brushes, eye shadow, liners, and glosses for only a buck!! (Not all items are a dollar visit their website.) It is a great brand to use for the recessionista!
4. Shake, Shake, Shake- Pressed powders can be broken shaking and dropped during the storage process, so gently shake the powder close to your ear to ween out the broken ones. (You will hear the broken pieces) this will also work for eye shadows!
5, Try DIY- I know everyone can not afford to go out and purchase whats trending, so what do you do? Do to the dollars store and make your own!  They have headbands, glue, pins, etc. to make the perfect accessory!

I hope you find these tips useful! Have fun shopping for a dollar!
God Bless!

2011 Summer Trend:Hair Accessories, and How to

Hello Again!

Recently I have fell deeply in love with hair accessories( look out for a DIY post). I have recently purchased headbands, flowers, clips, and hair pins to wear in my hair. I have seen so many celebrities wear them and they were all over fashion week runways!

My cute little headband! I love it!

How do you wear a hair accessory?

Step One: Make sure you hair is styled accordingly. Do not use a hair accessory as an opt out of styling your hair. Style your hair to fit the accessory.
Step Two: Look like an adult! Hair accessories can sometime appear to be juvenile, so when wearing an accessory curl your hair, tease your crown, or pull your hair off of your face for age appropriateness. Wearing make up can help as well.
Step Three: When wearing a stretched headband or a flower headband go for the chic look pulling it closer to your forehead. When going for softer look wear it just about the forehead(Picture above).

Step Four: When wearing a large hair accessory, wear small earrings, and limited jewelry because the overall look can be a little much. So choose your statement piece. Not pieces!
Step Five:Just Ask your stylist. When you go to the salon ask your stylist how to wear your accessories with your hairstyle. Stylist are creative so they will be able to give you great idea!

Have Fun!

The Right Frames For Your Face Shape 8-)

Hello Dolls!
I know that summer is approaching and everyone is starting to break out the shades!  Everyone knows that different people have different facial shapes, and different hairstyles, makeup, and glasses flatter each of them.  So I have come up with a guideline for you to find your most flattering pair!

Round

For the ladies with a round face such as myself, try square or rectangular frames, This will allow you to balance your face. Try your best to avoid round frames, this can make your face even more round!

Heart

For those who have a heart shaped face try round frames.

Square

Rounded frames will soften your jaw line. Wrap Styles and Aviators are great styles!

Long

Oversize, round, or oval pairs that will give you proportion. Try to avoid, small thin, and narrow frames which will make your face appear longer.

Oval

You lucky sun of a gun! You can wear what you want! Oval faces are said to be the most desired shape because it is so proportioned! You can wear what you want , When you want, wherever you want!

I hope and pray you all find what you are looking for! Have fun shopping!

Tips to Thrifting

Have you ever dreamed of a wardrobe filled with beautiful, stylish, timeless pieces that are sure to catch an eye? Twirling in a floral maxi with a fedora and a satchel. Leaving a smile every place you go? I thought I was the only one! But my dream is a reality! As I looked at trends this year I sit back a wonder, "Haven't I seen that before?". And then it dawns on me that I indeed have! Trends leave and come back like clockwork. First its in, then its out! But of course who always follows the trends? But for those who like to keep up with whats trending then you don't always want to spend all of your money trying to "keep up". That is why I am here to give you another alternative, THRIFTING!

Thrifting  is just buying used clothes, and I am here to give you ladies a few tips to make you thrifting adventures the best that they can be!

1) Be Humble- A lot of people love nice, quality clothes, however, they think that they have to be bought at Saks,Macy's, Neimans, etc. And believe me those are very nice places to buy clothes, but it is also not bad to buy used clothes. When contemplating about going thrifting, do not go because it is "in" but go because you want to find, cheap, quality, stylish clothes. Do not go in hiding praying to God that no one sees you! Just say, "hey I am here to be guaranteed a deal!".

2) Have Enough Time- When you are thrifting you want to make sure that you have enough time to look through everything because you never know what you may find!

3) Go in knowing what you are looking for- If you do not do this then you are going to be looking forever, and spending way more then what you expected because thrifts have good finds! When thrifting at least have an idea.

4) You are not limited!- Just because you buy a piece one way does not mean you have to wear it that way! You can add or take way! It is your world! Do what you want to do!

5) Good Neighborhoods- I hate saying this but I have to say it. A lot of quality clothes would be in in middle to upper class neighborhoods. When I go I go out of the city to buy good finds!

6) The bigger the better- I love going to larger thrift stores because of the number of options.

7) Just say thank you- You don't have to tell everyone where you got you look, so forget the "Oh by the way I spent five dollars for the entire look!" Just say thanks!

8) Be prepared to leave empty- You are not always going to find what you are looking for so don't put your hopes so high!

9) Ask!- Ask when they are having new shipments! Most people will tell you if they have new things in the back, and when they will be out, and they will also tell you when their new shipment will be in! This way you can get what you are looking for before everyone else even knows that new things are in.wink wink!

10) Wash before wear!- This is important because everyone does not wash their clothes before they are given way, plus you never know what happens to the clothes before you buy them. It would also be a good thing to get a good dry cleaners.

Have fun thrifting !

God Bless!

Fashion Tip: Back Me up!

Hello Dolls!
OK, quick tip ladies! I know if a lot of you are like me (a 22 year old with the memory of a 72 year old.ha ha) you lose the backs to your earrings. I do not know why but mine always seem to get lost. So while I was shopping yesterday at Micheals (I am so your DIY kind of girl) I ran across a pack of earring backs! Awesome right! I needed them anyway for my own personal handmade jewelry but I also will have them when I lose a back! That's your quick Fashion Tip!
