Entering Spring with a Glow

Hello Dolls!
As Spring is vastly approaching beautiful glowing skin is a must have! I get asked a lot about my skin, so I decided to talk about skin care to promote healthy radiant skin! Sleep,  low stress,  clean pillowcases, and exercise all contribute to healthy skin. When you are sleeping you have to make sure that you get enough sleep to ensure a refreshed look as you awaken in the morning. While sleeping you want to make sure that you sleep on a clean pillowcase( switch once a week). When you have a lot of stress surrounding you if effects your body in a negative way. Stress can cause  your face to break out and produce fine lines (we don't want that!). Consistent workouts help reduce inflammation and boost circulation to deliver nutrients to your skin. The effect: a healthy glow!
To get healthy skin you also need to have a good regimen. Start with a gentle cleanser, A mild exfoliator or a toner, moisturizer with SPF, and if you want a night cream. I make homemade facial masks sometime, and they have proven to work. One that I recommend is the Egg and Almond Mask, which will give dry itchy skin and beautiful moisturized healthy looking glow!

Egg and Almond Mask:

Beat 1 egg and add 1 teaspoon of almond oil to it and mix it thoroughly and apply it on the face evenly and leave it on for around 10-15 minutes. Rinse it off after that with cold water. This facial mask leaves a glowing face for dry-skin. (Almond oil is good for dry skin.)

Hope to see you all glowing this spring :-)

Scripture of the Day

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him."
~Psalm 28:7

I just thank God that he has given me joy in my sorrow. I have been through a lot of things in the past few years and without God I don't know if I would be able to be here now speaking encouragement to you. So I encourage you all to seek God for his joy and his peace, and you will indeed feel so much better!

Hot Shoes in Bags for Spring 2011

Hello!
I just got the April 2011 edition of People Style Watch and it is just divine! It had a section in it for this issue that I totally needed and it was the trending shoes and bags for Spring 2011. Now I think that I have a little time to shop seeing that I live in Michigan and I still see that white stuff by the name of snow on the ground, but Spring is indeed here and I want whats hot! We are going to start with shoes. So many are in style this season and I could not wait to share with you guys my favorite ones!

Platform Wedges

Boho Sandals

Bright Shoes

Low Heels

Wood Soles

Canvas

These are a few of my favorite shoes that I saw (some were in the issue, and some I found on the net) Aren't they just darling? Another shoe that they had was color blocking which is a neutral shoe with a color blend but I could find one on the net that I liked and I got tired of looking for one (ha ha) ok next are hot bags for this spring.

Saddle Bags

Perforated Bags

Back Packs

Tall Totes

These are awesome too, right? They also had polished satchels, and mini bags (I don't do mini). As you purchase your bags pretreat the leather and spot treat the canvas and/or fabric. This may also go with the shoes, because it will carry you throughout the entire season!

Where I have been, and a word of Encouragement

Hey Dolls!
I just wanted to say sorry for not posting the last week and a half! Life is taking a turn for me that I did not expect. Not a bad turn but a really good turn. I have gone through a lot in this season of my life. I had a sickness that arose my freshman year of college that forced me to drop out for a couple of years, I gained a lot of weight, everything just happened in a matter of 4 years. But God is turning it all around! That is why I have been so busy! (Laughing) I just wanted everyone to know just to keep the faith! Keep striving towards your dreams, keep working hard, and never give up! I wanted to give up but I didn't! I am still standing, and because of that I am standing strong and victorious! I am back..(ha ha). That's why I talk about God so much because he has done so much for me :-).
Okie Dokie!

My sketches

Hey Dolls!
I posted a while back that I had a banquet to attend in a few months well October and I wanted a very pretty dress that only I would have so I sketched a dress, and I plan on making it (or getting in made depending on how I feel) in June. Here are two dress that came to mind...

I love the silhouette of this kind of dress, especially  the draping at the skirt of the dress... It will have a skinny belt with exaggerated shoulders, and sort of a scooped neckline. 3/4 length sleeves, maybe a jersey fabric. This is the chic side of me..(ha ha)

Floor length dress with an off center bow in the front. It will have a sweetheart neckline with a lace or sheer overlay( I'm not sure yet) It will have the illusion of being strapless, but my top and arms will be covered. I wanted the fabric to be a chiffon ( Oh I can't wait!) I think this will be beautiful. This is the princess, church girl side of me..(ha ha)
What do you think?

Scripture of the Day

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
Psalm 139:14

God made us all to be uniquely beautiful. I hate saying that people are ugly and I try not to because I know that God made us all fearfully and wonderfully! He is an awesome God that has allowed us to wake up everyday and gave us the activity of our limbs. I am beautiful because God made me! And I pray that everyone feels the same!

God Bless!

Proenza Schouler and Rachel Roy knows sophistication!

Ok. I am not gonna say it again but I love a sophisticated look with a youthful flair! And because of that I love designs by designers Proenza Schouler and Rachel Roy! They are so awesome and while showcasing their 2011 Spring Fashions last year I fell in love! I would wear everything that these ladies put on their runway! They know what looks good on a woman! First up is Proenza Schouler..

I would have to say that I am in love with this piece from my favorite ladies at Proenza Schouler. I love the untamed look with the hair, the natural makeup. It ties the entire look together!

This look is flawless with the purple belt that separates the blue skirt and the lose fitting top. I can actually see myself wearing this piece.

My Love, Hate Relationship

Ode to Winter,
Oh how I will miss the double breasted coats and the printed scarves. The boots and gloves. Watching my daddy and my little brother shoveling the snow, while my mother and I made hot coco inside of the house. Oh winter I know you will be back in a few months and I know that you are almost gone, but please please please hurry while you are leaving and take your precious time coming back. :-)

My oh so natural make up!

Hola Chicas!
lol for the longest I have been trying to do my own makeup! And I have gotten better over the years. I remember when I first learned to do a smokey eye I would wear it everyday (even in the day). My face would be filled with make up! I know so so sad. My dear mother had to bring me in one day before church telling me that I had on TOO MUCH MAKE UP!  I know. But I remember when there was  a time when I didn't believe there was such a thing as too much make up. However, as I am getting older I realize that there is such a thing. I tried a neutral make up look, what do you think?

If you want to know what I used, just let me know!

This is not just a fashion blog

As many of you know, I am a lover of fashion. But I am first a lover of God. I created this blog to glorify God while talking about something that I love. Everything that I do in my life I want God to be in it because he has done so much for me. He has brought be out of a depressed lifestyle into a redeemed lifestyle that I am building into something great! Of course I do want people to follow and read my blog but I want people to know that God is number 1 on this blog and fashion in number two. I am not ashamed to say that I am a church girl! I am fashionably saved!
Much Love!

Sketching!!

For such a long time I have always wanted to be a fashion designer. I always had a sketch pad and a pencil in my hand since I was in middle school. Fashion was something I dreamed of living as such a shy and noticeably unfashionable girl. As I have grown into an adult I still love fashion and I still love to sketch and that is what I did this weekend! My pastor is having an anniversary banquet in October of this year, and I am so excited! I just started sketching away because I want to have a dress like no other!I am still deciding if I want to put the sketches on here. I will keep you guys updated!
Much Love and Go Bless!

Spring Trending!

Hello Ladies, I know as you all enter the different stores to go shopping the winter racks are getting a little empty while springs begins to flourish down the aisle! I was on Style.com and looked at some more trends that were on the runways for Spring 2011 Fashion Week. Another was white and pastels. A lot of designers are choosing not to put a lot of black on the runways this season, but bring a bit of optimism to their collections. Another trend is prints! yes I love but hate them( joking) however, I do have a love?hate relationship with prints because I love how I love them, but I hate how much wider they make me  look. Here a few pictures from my favorite designers that were on Style.com.

Scripture of the Day!

"Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."
- 1 Peter 3:3-4

I love to wear beautiful things, but I have found that beautiful things did not make me happy, or feel any better about myself. Inner beauty if what counts, so check your attitude at the door along with your coat..lol. Because once optimism checks in, Your life will feel so much better.

Add Some Texture to your closet!

OK, I know I have been saying how much I am in love with a chic style with a flair of sophistication, and I am going to say it again..(laughing) I love to have that happy medium in my wardrobe, and another way I can think about adding a little chicness to your wardrobe is by textured or patterned tights. I hate going to church without stockings or tights on and I wear them year around to church. I am going to do a post later on about how to wear different types of stockings with different types of outfits but for now I want to talk about patterned tights.

The winter is nearing its end of the year and Spring is rising up (well not were I live.haha) But who wants to forget about tights? Not me! They are something that can be worn year around and spice up an old outfit in a matter of seconds. I went shopping with my friend Shon and she told me she had to buy some and she totally made me remember that they existed and now I can not stop thinking about them. They come in so many shapes, colors, and prints. But most of all they are affordable. You can almost get them anywhere where hosiery is sold. JC Penny has them for under $10.00! I know right. Here are a few that caught my eye on the sight.

They are wonderful, right? Your can wear them with a cute A line dress, pencil skirt, or whatever you so desire! I love them, they are affordable, and they are totally my style!
Have Fun Shopping!

Scripture of the Day!

"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. "
Proverbs 31:30

Beauty will only get you so far, but when you have God in your life, you are no longer pleasing others, but you are pleasing God! I love fashion, make up, and beauty. But without my God I would be nothing! I mean nothing but the old unhappy, lonely, me.

ICE COLD!!!!!!!!!!!

I love having having hair and beauty regimens and one thing that I have in my regimen is Water. I drink about 100 oz. of water a day ( two 50 oz. bottles.) Water helps everything in your body. You can not go more than 40 days without water. It helps maintain clear skin, and a lean body. But it also helps with two other things that have nothing to do with health. I use cold water for my hair and to aid my drying nails.

Hair
I have natural hair, and a very important element in natural hair (curly, kinky, coiled, wavy, not chemically treated hair) is moisture. Moisture is the key to beautiful healthy curls. And cold water helps with that. Cold water can be used in two ways. 1) After washing hair in the shower- After you wash and condition your hair, or co wash (conditioner wash) rinse your hair with cold water to seal in the moisture from the conditioner and/or deep conditioner. This will aid in preventing breakage at the ends of your hair. 2) While styling after washing your hair- While styling your hair after washing do not comb or brush your hair! After you apply product to your hair, scrunch your hair with a cold towel to define curls and prevent frizz.

Nails
I love to do my own manicures and sometime when I am in a rush I smudge my polish because I don't allow my nails to dry completely. Then I found out about the cold water method. It takes about 20 min for nails to dry, however, to speed the process up, run cold water over your nails, or put your hands in a bowl of cold water. This will aid in drying your nails.

This is my first beauty tip and I hope you lovely ladies enjoyed!

Fashion Magic on PLL

Last year one of my BFF's told me about a show that I didn't think that I would be interested in but I am now in LOVE with. And that show it ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars. Ok ok, I do not condone lying, however, I condone the the interesting suspense and most importantly the fashion that is displayed on the show. I have been in love with the fashions through out the entire season. The girl's style is just fabulous! They are making me feel kind of bad that the winter is almost gone. Because I so want everything that the girls have on this season. Their style is so chic and sophisticated. I think any church girl would be able to rock these looks everyday.  Here are just a few of my favorite looks from this season of Pretty Little Liars.

Blazer: Guess, Skirt: BCBG

Cape: Juicy Couture

Jacket & Shirt: BeBe

Blouse: Twelve by Twelve, Jacket: Juicy Couture, Boots: Christian Louboutin

I can not wait to see what the girls are gonna wear for the next two episodes of the season. Check it out on Monday Nights on ABC Family.

Oh My Mary!

Urban Gospel Recording Artist, Mary Mary are starting to catch my eye not with their music ( which I love!) but their style. They have started to transition into church girl fashionistas! When they first hit the scene their style was cute but safe. And now they are pushing the envelope but with sophistication. Keep it up ladies! You are showing how it is done!

Yesterday!!!!!!

OMG I had an awesome time at church yesterday! But I was equally excited about the dress that I wore! It was a fuchsia tea length dress with pocket detailing and tool underneath to give it just enough of a flare. Oh I got so many compliments it was crazy. I paired the dress with a 3 inch suede stiletto and a cute black leather handbag. Like I said you can still be fashionable as a churchgirl! Pics coming soon!

Nail it up!

I know the past couple of post have been about sophistication, however, I love to have a little fierceness in my style. I went to the store a couple of weeks ago and saw these nail polish strips by Sally Hansen and flipped because they were so beautiful! So many styles and colors that really make your nails pop! It almost reminds me of minx nails which will cost you about $50.00 depending on where you go. But I have a secret to tell you..shhhhhh( they will only run you $10.00 depending on where you get them). I know right, its a shocker but I am serious :-) I have heard that they last about 10 days to two weeks! I have tried them and they work! I wash dishes, clean up, type and everything with theses strips on and I don't have to worry about paint chipping. I love them! So when you get a chance, check them out!
